Sewing Project: Pillowcase Dress

Before... machine out, fabric ready!

Final Product!

Pretty girl sportin' her new dress!

So my mom bought me a sewing machine for my birthday this year.  Unfortunately it was two days after we welcomed sweet baby girl into the world!  I haven't done much with the machine - just repaired some baby wipes & kid's clothes.  I really want to MAKE something though.  Making a pillowcase dress seemed the obvious choice.  Easy beginner project.  Perfectly describes me.  Link to directions: http://www.aroomsomewhere.net/2007/07/pillowcase-dress-tutorial.html

My mom was in town visiting & helped me with this creation.  Honestly, after she tutored me in some sewing slang & boosted my confidence, I had no problems at all!  Not lovin' the ribbon color.  In fact, didn't "finish" it in any way in case I want to change it.  The dress will easily fit for the next year or so... it's plenty big.  Enjoy!

Raptors!

Nicholas started his first season of "coach pitch" baseball on Saturday. They had two games. One opponent had amazing hitters. The other did not. Our team fell somewhere in the middle. We are still waiting for Nicholas' first coach pitch hit, but we know with his ever-improving swing it can't be far off! He did have an unassisted double play that we are SO proud of! While playing second base, he caught a fly ball. Then he tagged out the runner. It was pretty great! Here's to another great baseball season!

Preschool Bound!

Matthew started PRESCHOOL last week!! His room has a "monkey" theme, so of course my monkey is so excited! I didn't know what to expect. He had a rough transition to the new Sunday School room at church, crying each of the 3 weeks of class. I wondered how a full 4.5 hours away from Mom would be. He cried. I did too. Away from him. I think what got me is that he is now in school. Forever. Yikes.
It was SO great to see brothers making school lunches together! Seeing Math with his backpack on to walk N to school. That kind of sweet stuff is so amazing. And guess what? The day was short. He came home so fast! Unfortunately, he came home VERY tired. And only had 1 hour to nap before his mean mother woke him up to get brother. That was a terrible idea. Will be rethinking that one... The evening was rough for sure!
