Odds and Ends

Here are some pics of Matthew wearing LONG SLEEVES, PANTS, AND EVEN A JACKET!!! Yes, indeed! It CAN get "cold" in Texas. What you can't see in the picture is Matthew sweating profusely because his mommy overdressed him (I can't HELP it! I LOVE bringing out fall/winter clothes!!).
Also... Matthew is trying on several different looks for Halloween. We have "sheriff" jammies for him to wear as a costume (still trying to find a small cowboy hat), but tried on a bear costume (Jason thinks it's a lion) and a Fireman costume (it would match brother...).
Enjoy!

2nd soccer game

Nicholas had his second soccer game last Saturday. He scored four of the team's nine goals (go Nicholas!!!). He really likes playing, and he is good at it! Who knew? The first picture is Nicholas scoring a goal during warm-ups. The second picture is Nicholas scoring a goal during the game. Nicholas & Dad are celebrating Nicholas' goal in the third picture and the fourth is Nicholas after the game. Go Blue Dragons!

Mural - Final Pics

Here are the "final" pics from the monkey mural! We LOVE it and hope you do too! She outlined the leaves, painted several pairs of eyes a slightly different color, and painted baby monkey's tail a different color - subtle but amazing. Enjoy!

Monkey Mural!

We had someone from our neighborhood paint a mural in Matthew's room. He loves his monkey & sleeps with him nightly, so a monkey mural is perfect! The mural is 99% done, with only minor touches left. Enjoy!

Baby Comparison

So I haven't compared my adorable children in a while... maybe because they are just too different for me to even see similarities. Their personalities are so different, they are different developmentally - they are just different kiddos! But... just out of curiosity, I pulled pics of each boy at 15 months. For Nicholas, he was just barely walking. Matthew is a running fool! They are both TOTALLY adorable little guys, and look pretty different! Enjoy!

First Soccer Game!!

Today was Nicholas' 1st Soccer Game! The Blue Dragons were ADORABLE in their 7-3 victory (not that anyone was keeping score!). Nicholas scored TWO goals (his first one is picture # ). All the boys did a great job, with a few stray tears here & there. Nicholas said the only thing he didn't like about the game was that there was a different team. Guess he wasn't expecting that? He got a little upset with all the tripping, shoving, etc. although it is pretty much unavoidable... All in all, a GREAT first game!

FOOTBALL!!!

It's that GREAT day of the year... the start of the Bears (and Chiefs) football season! All four of us are decked out in our NFL finest. It was a little strange to be at Costco today and we were the ONLY ones in NFL gear. What?!?! Apparently professional sports don't matter in Austin??? Oh well. We will be weird, I guess, and in Austin that's a GREAT thing.

First Soccer Practice

On Wednesday night, Nicholas' soccer team had their first practice. So funny! Watching 6 little boys run around and do anything they want to do while the coaches try to reel them in... so hilarious! Jason is one of the coaches... and with his limited soccer experience he did a great job! The other coach is a veteran and knows all the tricks - Jason will learn! The boys have 9 games this season and practice once a week. Go Blue Dragons!

Funny of the Day... from MATTHEW!

Jen: Say "Momma" (he has YET to say Momma).
Matthew: "TRASH"

Yes, very funny. However, Trash is one of the few words he can say (also "shoes" [refers to socks or shoes], "this", "vroom, vroom" [yes, I count this], "dada", "Nick", "hi).

First Day of Pre-K!!!

Today was Nicholas' first day of Pre-K! He's been counting down the days for a while now, and was up early this morning so he wouldn't be late! After a breakfast of waffles and yogurt, he ran upstairs to get ready (Mom, is this the LAST TIME I am going upstairs before I go to Pre-K????). He was ready LONG before it was time to go! Of course, when it was time to go Matthew needed a quick diaper change (Nicholas was SO impatient!). We loaded up and headed to school. THEN... I started tearing up. He's my baby (not the ACTUAL baby, but still my baby). He's going away. I am losing him. All normal mommy feelings. I told him I'd miss him and he (matter-of-factly) replied that there is no need to be sad. He'd be home at 2pm and tell me all about his day. What a sweetheart. I hid my tears and made it the rest of the way with no more breakdowns. When we picked him up, he was all smiles! He had a fantastic day and told me all about the centers he did, art class, Albert Einstein, playing outside, lunch in the gym, painting, etc. He had such a great time... he loved that it was so different than his old school (which he also loved!). The only BIG negative of the day was a leaky water bottle. I even TESTED it for 24 hours (upside-down) yesterday to see if it would leak. It just figures! Enjoy our pics with Miss Hawkins (N's teacher), outside the "Elephant Room", outside the school (take two pictures here, Mommy), and at home.

First Game

Sunday night we took Matthew to his first professional baseball game (it is odd to Jason that both children's first games were minor league games - we rarely go to minor league games!). The Round Rock Express were playing the Omaha Royals, and it was Fan Appreciation Night! Before the game, they had bouncers, a train, and horse rides for the kids! It was great! Nicholas had a blast! Right before the game we headed inside. We immediately walked over to where the Royals players were warming up - and we were SO CLOSE to Alex Gordon! So cool! Also ride in front of us was Kila Ka'aihue (Jason predicts he will play 1st base for the Royals next year). Kila was extremely friendly, giving Nicholas a ball and complimenting him on his Royals gear. Nicholas & I headed over to the Royals' dugout and talked to Tommy Gregg , batting coach for the Royals. So cool! He talked to us about our Royals shirts, etc. and we told him we recently moved... he was SO FRIENDLY and told us we'd be the only ones cheering for him. I didn't believe it. He was so right. It was SILENT each and every time a Royals player did something positive! Wow! I felt bad cheering for the Royals! Matthew was hot, Nicholas was whiny. We made it (barely) through 3 innings before heading to the kids' play area. After managing another half hour or so, we headed home. WAY before the fireworks (actually we heard the fireworks from home... and WE were already in bed!).
It may not have turned out JUST like we planned, but a fun night was had by all. Enjoy our pictures!

When it RAINS in Texas

It RAINED tonight! I mean it REALLY RAINED! So what did the Savage boys do? Headed outside for a fun but wet evening! At first, we were just in AWE of the rain! Matthew squealed with delight. Nicholas just wanted to feel it on his fingers. Was it real? The disappointing part is that Jason & Nicholas were dressed & headed to the Round Rock Express baseball game (they are playing the Omaha Royals - Jason wants Alex Gordon's autograph). The boys decided not to go as it rained so much! We eventually took the boys' shirts off and let them run around like crazy people in the rain! They obviously enjoyed themselves... Nicholas got some soccer practice in... let the season begin! Enjoy our rainy weather pics, and do a rain dance for MORE RAIN in Austin!

Swim Lessons, day two

Day two of swim lessons was great! Nicholas started the lesson at station 3 (blue fish "dive" in the water) and ended at station 4 (backfloat - we may be here a while!). He did a FANTASTIC job and we are so proud of him!

Meet the Teacher

Today was "Meet the Teacher" Day at Nicholas' preschool! He was so excited to bring in his supplies to his classroom and meet his teacher. She had a little scavenger hunt for the kids, and Nicholas helped put away all his supplies. Nicholas' Grandma made him a cover for his napmat (see picture below)! So cozy! His room is the "Elephant Room" - we can't wait for a great year!
